I have had an interest in working with people with autism spectrum conditions for the past 14 years and have been assessing children and adults for ASD for the past 10 years. I have been trained to use the Adult Asperger Assessment (AAA) and the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS).
I began my career as a qualified psychologist working in an NHS Child and Family Consultation Service (CFCS) in Southend-On-Sea and Benfleet in South Essex. In this role, I worked within a Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD) Clinic, assessing children and young people for conditions such as autism and ADHD within CFCS. I was also a member of a multi-disciplinary care pathway planning group for the Autism Multi-Disciplinary Assessment Service in South Essex.
I then worked as a Senior Clinical Psychologist and then a Principal Clinical Psychologist in adult mental health services in North Essex. I gained experience in assessing adults for autism spectrum conditions with complex comorbid mental health difficulties. I also worked as an assessor at the ASD-3D service for adults within primary care. Essex Autism Service was developed and I continued to work within the NHS as a Lead Psychologist for the Adult Access and Assessment Team, and privately part-time. I then worked solely on a private basis in 2016, which included providing autism assessments for the NHS in Colchester Primary Care.
I now work in an NHS Neuropsychiatry Service, assessing and working with people with a range of neurological conditions such as brain injury and epilepsy, and I continue to work in private practice across Essex and Kent.
I am chartered by the British Psychological Society (BPS), and abide by their code of ethics. I am monitored and regulated by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and undertake regular supervision.
I am a Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist and registered member of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists, registered member of the Health Professionals Council and Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice. Since qualifying as a Speech & Language Therapist in 2007 I have worked in mainstream schools, special schools and community clinics as well as developing a pre-referral Partnership Early Years Service for the NHS. I am a Speech and Language Therapist with a specialism in Autistic Spectrum Disorders. In 2009 I launched Coordinated Therapy Services and developed an independent service provision for children and young people with speech and language difficulties in mainstream and special schools and managed a team of therapists who support implementation of this across Essex, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
I have experience in providing assessment and advice as an Expert Witness and have postgraduate training from Bond Solon. I have a range of postgraduate qualifications in Autism including ADOS and ADI-R training as well as sensory-behavioural feeding difficulties, including the SOS Approach to feeding.
I am Managing Director of Coordinated Therapy Services and until March 2018 employed and supervised a Multi-Disciplinary Team of Health Professionals. I specialise in working strategically with Commissioners and schools to develop and implement evidence based and effective models of service delivery within Educational environments. Coordinated Therapy Services is also commissioned directly by NHS Services to clear waiting lists as required.
I have written online theory content and delivered training for a modular training course for a Higher Education College. I was on the Board of Directors for the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice from 2015-2017.
My philosophy is to provide evidence based and effective assessment and intervention for all of my clients supported by appropriate target setting and consideration of measurable outcomes. It is my belief that communication support should be integrated throughout all environments so that an individual can be able to spontaneously communicate and be well regulated and happy throughout their day.
I am a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist and registered member of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists, registered member of the Health Professionals Council and Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice.
